Lubuntu, Raspberry Pi OS, Debian & Ubuntu
Lubuntu, Raspberry Pi OS, and Debian (Lxqt) are lightweight and user-friendly, making them a good choice for new Linux users. Ubuntu derivatives are also good options.
They come loaded with Firefox, Google Chrome, VLC, LibreOffice Suite, and a range of light applications and are fully scalable with more advanced software (Gimp, Banshee...) from the free Ubuntu/Debian repositories (see Software Guide) as well as some of Windows' favorites: Thunderbird, Skype, etc.
Their speed (low RAM usage) and compatibility with Windows formats (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xml, .pps, .ppd, .pdf, .jpg, .png,
.mpg, .wmv, .avi, .mp3, .mp4, .zip...) makes them an ideal replacement for aging Windows Vista, and 7 as well as a great operating system for low-specification machines such as laptops, nettops, and netbooks. Of course, they are also great on new computers as a fast and free alternative to Windows 10.

Testimonials
Stephen W., Toledo, Ohio, USA (July 2014):
"I downloaded your Quelitu Linux distro for my old netbook and it works fantastic!"
Softpedia User Comment (Sept. 10, 2016):
"Absolutely awesome Linux disro. Been using it for over a year now and have actually wiped 6 of my 8 Windows computers and installed this. Only reason I haven't wiped all 8 is because 1 is wife's and 1 I need Windows on to update some external devices...
Easily runs better and faster than any of the versions of Windows I've ever had installed on those 6 computers."
